When operational autonomy of blockchains meets decisional autonomy of AI: legal challenges

Blockchains, through smart contracts, enable operational autonomy, while AI has given rise to decisional autonomy. When these two forms of autonomy meet, distinct and novel legal challenges emerge. This talk, by Primavera De Filippi and Fatemeh Fannizadeh, explores these legal challenges while delving into a speculative reality zone. We will together think of scenarios where the two realities of AI and blockchain connect: autonomous blockchain systems that relay on AI models to make decisions, or DAOs governed by AI who are themselves blockchain based models, and the resulting possible legal concerns.
