Combating Frontrunning and Malicious MEV Using Threshold Cryptography

More than USD 500M of Miner Extractable Value (MEV) have been extracted so far. Frontrunning and MEV pose an enormous threat to the fairness of many dapps and the security of blockchains as a whole. While there have already been commendable efforts to mitigate this issue (e.g. Flashbots, Gnosis Protocol V2/CowSwap), Shutter aims to put a more general stop to this malicious game by using threshold encryption of transactions. In this talk, we will take a look at how Shutter can protect smart contracts from frontrunners and give an overview of our roadmap.
