Private access to decentralized data

Decentralized systems, whether for computation like ethereum, or storage like IPFS, promise an egalitarian paradigm mediated by protocols. This vision is not achievable so long as access to these systems is only possible via current networked systems with entrenched power structures. This talk will survey the options and opportunities for private access to decentralized systems. A particular focus will be on the opportunities for decentralized content, where content integrity can be established through a decentralized process. Privacy systems for traditional web content have been necessarily structured around interactive connections to the single origin resource owner, a limitation not present with decentralized data. IPFS will be used as an exemplar for explaining current possible integrations, and opportunities we are excited to pursue to better offer reader/writer privacy.
