Our Collective Psychosis around Public Goods

"We know people who provide value for society (e.g. non-profits) should be rewarded for their work... but at the same time we are disgusted when people doing classically nonprofit work are paid competitive salaries. This is a cultural reality that is not easily overcome, but we must over come it. Governments are the primary funding source for public goods, and nonprofits, the #2 source, rely on sacrifice and a broken incentive structure to do their work. Token economies can provide a 3rd way to fund public goods and can end this collective psychosis."
