MoFi - Mobile-First DeFi Applications.. For Everyone

"The Web2 world has gone Mobile-First as far back as 10 years ago while the Web3 world continues to focus on desktop and server applications, in large part because of the difficulty building truly decentralized applications on resource constrained devices without trusting a third party service like Infura. In this talk, we cover the work by the Celo ecosystem, including products like Ubeswap, Moola Market, Impact Market, Centro, Valora, and many others who have built truly decentralized mobile-first DeFi communities. These applications (aka a MoFi dapps) run on any mobile device, and many of them integrate with Valora, the mobile-first flagship wallet in the Celo ecosystem. Not only is Valora fully self custodial, it connects with the network using an efficient light client (no need for Infura-like trusted backends), and verifies your mobile phone number in a cryptographically secure decentralized manner so you can send payments to people in your contact list with ease. While this seems like a useful feature for many Western audiences it is an absolutely crucial step forward for billions of people around the world.
